10-3-16 – At this time Kratom is still LEGAL and On Sale at Cirrus Smoke Shop in Fort Myers, Florida.
On August 31, 2016 the DEA announced plans to make kratom a schedule 1 drug on October 1, 2016. This would put Kratom in the same category as Heroine, LSD and Cocaine. During this period of time hundreds of thousands of Americans rose up and with the tremendous help of the American Kratom Association and the Botanical Education Alliance, petitions were started, Lawyers and PR firms were hired and we got the attention of both the U.S. Congress and Senate. At this time the Scheduling of Kratom has been delayed pending a “Public Comment” period. We do not know when this period will end and we do not know if the DEA still intends to classify kratom a schedule 1 drug. What we do know is that the fight to keep kratom “legal” goes on until it is. We will continue to provide the latest information and developments regarding the DEA and any actions they choose to make.
